  The electrical interface between an ISDN telephone line and a network terminator (NT1) device.

U-Law Edit     /     [top]    
  Also known as mu-law. A method of digitally encoding analogue signals that is used mostly in the USA. It is similar to another encoding scheme called A-law, but uses different amplitude table mappings making it incompatible with a-law encoding.

  An agent state that indicates the agent is unavailable to take calls or make outgoing calls. It is generalized in that it does not convey information about why the agent is unavailable.

  Universal Resource Locator – That funny looking website address you type/see in your browser’s location bar. It is also used in the HTML links you click on to go to those webpages.

  Universal Serial Bus: A serial connection and communication standard for connecting peripherals such as printers and scanners to PCs.

User Datagram Protocol Edit     /     [top]    
  UDP - A way for users of the TCP layer of the TCP/IP protocol stack to send a discreet packet of data over the network without the overhead of reliable, guaranteed delivery, or connection oriented sessions.

UDP operates at the same level as TCP, but provides a connectionless service for the exchange of messages between hosts, avoiding the overhead of reliability mechanisms.

User Interface Edit     /     [top]    
  UI - That part of a computer program, application, or machine that is concerned with interacting with a human user. Some examples of user interfaces include GUIs, command line interfaces, telephone keypads and displays, and steering wheels on cars.

User interfaces to computers are sometimes referred to as human-computer interfaces. Also, in some older military applications the user interface may be referred to as a Man Machine Interface.
