Formatting with CUF™ Codes

CUF is an acronym for Creativyst Universal Formatters™. CUF™ codes are simple text tags that allow you to format your message with more flair than plain text. How much formatting you use is entirely up to you. Formatting your messages can be as easy as just typing plain text or as expressive as adding tables, forms, and font styles.

Here are some simple codes you can use right away.

You have many different formatting options with CUF™ codes of which these are just a few. If your administrator allows it, you can include links ( http://www.Creativyst.com ), graphics (), even forms and tables. For a complete list of CUF™ codes view CUFCodes.htm.

CUF™ automatically inserts line breaks wherever you hit the enter key. If you hit the enter key multiple times in a row, CUF will combine them into a single paragraph break when your message is displayed.

If you want to stop CUF from adding line and paragraph breaks, you can include the [nobr] and [/nobr] tags in your message. Any lines between these two tags will not have line and paragraph breaks automatically added to them, though you are still free to add your own explicitly.

To add your own explicit line breaks to your message use the [br] tag. You may also add paragraph breaks with [p]. When you add breaks explicitly like this CUF™ will not combine them together.

The codes discussed above comprise a simple sub-set of CUF™ and are presented to get you started. To learn what other codes are available to you consult the CUFCodes.htm document.

When examining this document, pay special attention to the column labeled L. This column will hold a C for tags that are part of the basic (Core) group, a T for those tags that may be included at the discretion of the administrator, and an I for tags that may only be of use within special applications.

CUF™ may include (at the administrator's discretion) many codes that work like their HTML counterparts of the same name. For example, CUF's
tag works like the <table> tag in HTML. Form tags are also included at the administrator's discretion, and also work like their HTML counterparts.

Many familiar tags from other well known applications are also available. These include (for example) the
tag from UBB.
