QoS Edit     /     [top]
Quality of Service - A general term to describe a set of properties of network packet traffic. QoS properties includes such things as how much data can be continuously delivered to a destination (bandwidth or data-rate), how much delay occurs between the generation of the data at the source and its reconstruction at the destination (latency), and how much variability there is in this delay of packets amongst all packets transmitted in a given connection (jitter).

Queue Edit     /     [top]
In the context of call centers, a queue is an area of a phone system where incoming calls wait to be served by an agent. They are usually processed in the order they come in (First In First Out, or FIFO), though not necessarily. Callers are often given music on hold, product advertisements, or a selection of automated services while they wait on hold in a queue.
