Aerosmith is a long-running U.S. classic rock band, originally formed in Durham, New Hampshire (although since Boston, Massachusets is the closest major city, they often say that they are from Boston.) in the early 1970s. It enjoyed major popularity in the mid-1970s, but fell into decline and into temporary disunion due to substance abuse. Nevertheless, they would go on to enjoy a later resurgence in popularity starting in the late 1980s with their remake of "Walk This Way" with the then up-and-coming rap group Run DMC. 1987's Permanent Vacation re-established Aerosmith as a dominant musical force, it's a force that has continued through the early to mid 2000s.
