For HTML gurus:

Try this hacker challenge to have a little fun while practicing your table-making skills.

. . . . . . . . . . .
The challenge:

Produce a table in HTML with rounded corners on the top.

Do it without using any graphics files.
. . . . . . . . . . .

Here's my solution. It's not anything to brag about. Can you improve on it?

Here's my solution: http://www.autumnhaze.org/roundedcorners.html

I have to have a higher 'roof' on my header because of the technique, and I'm interested to get home and see how it looks in other browsers, but on IE it looks really nice.

What do you think?

Here's my solution with some modifications to bring the header down to normal: http://www.autumnhaze.org/roundedcorners2.html

Any better?

bri189a,

Very cool!

The radius is perfect. Makes sense to use pixels instead of percentages too.

Testing...

  • Firefox - The header and radius is perfect! (alignment between table body and header is a little off, probably due to page padding issues, easily fixed)

  • Opera - Perfect!

  • Netscape (6.2.2) - The radius is perfect! (there are some strange things going on with the rest of the table though. Probably bugs in this older browser. )

  • I.E. - Perfect!

  • Netscape 4.7 - I'm just so thankful we no longer have to support this old rag... It's probably time to remove it from my test browsers.
