I'm trying to install Glossary and it seems like the scripts are finding the Perl processor, but I get:

InputParse: Cannot read input

when I try to run the scripts from the command line, and I get a text dump of the script when I call the page in a web browser.

It looks like my server will only run files with a .cgi extension as scripts.

What server are you using?

It seems as if it has run the script at least enough to see the function...

Can't have text dumps out on the internet, btw.

Agreed.

I did a global search and replace for .pl to .cgi across all files in the archive and then installed again. It seems to be working correctly now.

Thanks,
Jenn

Jenn,

Great to hear you've got it running. Good fix!

Is your server provided by a web hosting service? If so, are you able to share with whom?

The reason I ask is that I'm wondering how common this is, and if I should include an easier fix for it in future distribution packages.

. . . . . . .
Just to keep my lawyer happy:

Holders of valid licenses to use Creativyst® Glossary have my express permission to alter the script in this way: Find and change all instances of '.pl' found in the scripts to '.cgi'.

. . . . . . .
Thanks for the heads-up on this.

My installation is on a departmental University server. It doesn't have a special cgi-bin directory but it also doesn't execute .pl files.

And thank *you* for such an excellent program.
