Voice Over DSL - A descriptive name for the technique of digitizing voice phone calls and sending them over a DSL connection. Phone calls were once sent over the PSTN only. Data networks tended to have quality of service (QoS) and latency problems associated with them when sending voice. As these problems were resolved, the efficiencies and advantages of digital packet networks made them increasingly popular for voice.
