Multihomed  
 
In the context of LANs this describes a single machine or "host" that has at least two separate network connections to two different networks. This usually means two network adapters (NICs), two different MAC addresses (interface card addresses), and, on IP networks (such as the Internet) two separate IP addresses.

Multihomed servers can be used as routers to route traffic between the two (or more) networks they are connected to.
